I'm gonna miss the food and friendship

I jumped at the opportunity to work for The Honolulu Advertiser sports department in May 2005 with the help of Kalani Takase. I've known Kalani since high school when we met through Hawaii Sports Network. Even though he's a Trojan and I'm a Charger. At the time, I was enrolled at Hawaii Pacific University, and had an athletic statistician scholarship.

Sports has always been a part of my life through my family, and it came natural with this department. My fellow clerks, Sarah and Tiera, those girls always got my back on a Saturday night when there were 25 or more basketball/baseball/softball games or a late night of football. But, we always found time to chat it up.

I'm surely gonna miss our UH tailgates, Kyle Sakamoto's chicken wings mostly! Free things being passed around courtesy of Stephen Tsai. Cheering for Pearl City High School, I may have even thought about putting in an extra strikeout or two for my brother Matthew when he pitched. Ann Miller calling me "hey shorty." And most of all, making memories with you all working for the best newspaper!

As sports clerks, we are the communicators to the public. I loved my job, every aspect of it. I wanna thank our avid For The Record readers!

I'm lucky to have worked with the greatest group of people. You guys made me laugh non-stop, gave me good advice, and always supported me. Thank you, The Honolulu Advertiser sports department, I'm gonna miss you guys!
