As the season for Japanese folk dance festivals launches here, Hawai'i Public Radio will again air Keith Haugen's "Obon," a history of the ceremony and dance tradition.

The hourlong show, written and narrated by Haugen, made its debut in 2007. Listen to "Obon" at 6 p.m. tomorrow on KHPR FM 88.1 , on KKUA 90.7 in Wailuku and KANO 91.1 in Hilo. In addition, it will be streamed live on www.hawaiipublicradio.org.

Haugen, left, is the creator of "Ke Aolama," the first-ever Hawaiian language newscast, and the "Hawaiian Word of the Day," which has inspired similar features in print and broadcast media. Haugen and his wife, Carmen, have hosted HPR's "Music of Hawai'i.".
