A 28-year-old Honolulu man turned himself in to police late Tuesday in connection with a hit-and-run incident on H-1 Freeway early Tuesday morning.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of failure to render aid. He was released pending an investigation.

A 37-year-old Waipahu man suffered a broken ankle shortly after midnight when the motorcycle he was operating was rear-ended by a car near the Ward Avenue overpass.

Witnesses told police the car, which did not stop after the collision, had been speeding and weaving through traffic before the crash.

Police said the motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet, and that speed, alcohol or drugs were not factors in his actions.

Police Lt. David Nilsen said an investigation into the crash is continuing.
