Volunteers sought for Hawaii humpback whale-counting effort

The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary will use volunteers to count whales from shoreline locations on O�ahu, Kaua�i and the Big Island on Saturday, Feb. 27 and March 27.

The counts are from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Volunteers may sign up online at www.sanctuaryoceancount.org or by calling, on O�ahu, 397-2651, ext. 253 or 1-888-55-WHALE, ext. 253; on the Big Island, 1-888-55-WHALE ext. 253; or on Kaua�i, 246-2860.
Also on Feb. 27, the Pacific Whale Foundation on Maui will hold a whale count on Maui. To assist in that count, e-mail to researchdirector@pacificwhale.org.
