The airline said it carried a total of 59,857 passengers, a 1.7 percent increase from the year-earlier period.

KāNE'OHE MCDONALD'S CLOSED FOR NOW

The McDonald's restaurant on Kāne'ohe Bay Drive closed today to make way for its rebuilding.

The project, part of an ongoing plan by the chain to update its restaurants in Hawai'i, will produce a new restaurant with improved drive-through traffic flow, a contemporary look and better water and energy efficiency, the company said.

McDonald's said the new restaurant is expected to open in the spring.

HAWAI'I GETS $6M FOR 'GREEN' JOB TRAINING

The Hawai'i Department of Labor and Industrial Relations has received $6 million in "green" job training grants under the federal stimulus package.

The grants are designed to help workers gain skills needed in emerging industries, including energy efficiency and renewable energy. They were announced as part of $190 million of grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

AT&T ADDS 3G SITES ON KAUA'I, O'AHU

AT&T said it has activated two new 3G cell sites to enhance its service on O'ahu and Kaua'i.

The new Kaua'i site improves coverage for the Kekaha area, including the Kīkīaola Small Boat Harbor and parts of Waimea Canyon Drive.

The O'ahu enhancement involves better coverage for Hickam Air Force Base, the Navy Exchange and the Moanalua Shopping Center.
