Kapaa man is Kauai's first traffic fatality of 2010 after two-truck crash

LIHUE — One man was killed and two men injured last night when two trucks collided on Kaumualii Highway near the entrance to Kahili Mountain Park.

A Kauai County news release says the fatality was a 32-year-old Kapaa man who was the only occupant in a GMC pick-up.
This is the first traffic fatality of the year on Kauai.
The other driver, a 31-year-old Omao man, was behind the wheel of a Ford pick-up. He is in serious condition at Wilcox Hospital.
A 27-year-old Kilauea man who was a passenger is in fair condition at Wilcox.
According to a preliminary report, the Ford was traveling east at about 10:16 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the west-bound GMC.
The highway was closed following the crash and reopened at around 3:30 this morning.
