Oahu lifeguards urge caution as big swell rolls in on north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

Oahu lifeguards are urging beachgoers to be cautious this weekend with another large northwest swell expected to bring warning-level surf to north- and west-facing shores.

The National Weather Service says surf will start rising tomorrow, peak on Sunday and remain high through Monday. Waves are expected to hit 25 feet along north shores and 20 feet on west shores.
Beachgoers should consult with lifeguards before entering the water, heed all warning signs and never go in alone.
The city’s Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division provides recorded information on ocean conditions at 922-3888, ext. 51.
