Two Wahiawa events to celebrate cherry blossom season

Cherry blossoms will soon be in full bloom in Wahiaw�, heralding two events to celebrate the season. The first is the Sakura Matsuri, from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 30 at Wahiawa Hongwanji, 1067 California Ave.

The event, sponsored by the United Japanese Society of Hawaii and the Wahiawa Nikkei Civic Association, will feature Japanese cultural entertainment, a drawing for a cherry blossom tree, food and the Cherry Blossom Court.
The cost is $5 for admission; call Evelyn at 621-3659 for tickets.
The following weekend a Sakura Safari-Hana Mi will offer trolley tour rides through Wahiaw� to view cherry blossom trees and lunch with tours at 9 and 11 a.m. Feb. 6 beginning at the Wahiawa Ryusenji Soto Mission, 164 California Ave.
The cost is $18 for the tour and $5 for a Kitchen Delight bento. Reservations are required and seating is limited.
