ISLE FILE
Satele to try UH volleyball

Advertiser Staff

Former Saint Mary's volleyball player Chanteal Satele has left the Moraga, Calif. school and is enrolled at the University of Hawai'i for the spring semester, she confirmed to The Advertiser Monday.

"I just wanted to come home," said Satele, who plans to walk-on to the Rainbow Wahine team. "I missed my family and the environment back home."

Satele, a 2008 Word of Life graduate from Mililani, earned honorable mention All-West Coast Conference recognition after helping the Gaels win the WCC championship and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 5-foot-10 outside hitter averaged 2.58 kills per set and hit .274 as a sophomore.

Satele's mother, Lee Ann (Pestana) Satele, was a member of the Rainbow Wahine volleyball teams that won NCAA championships in 1982 and '83.

"She was really excited — everyone was excited," said Satele, whose brothers Brashton and Liko are members of the Warrior football team. "The whole family will be back together."

CORRECTION

PRICE GALA FEB. 6

Longtime Chaminade professor Larry Price will be inducted into the Silversword Hall of Fame on Feb. 6 at the school's Intercollegiate Athletics Gala at the Pacific Beach Hotel.

Price, a professor of business administration, first joined Chaminade in 1982. He also is a popular radio show host and former University of Hawai'i football coach.

"We are delighted to recognize Dr. Price, who has been a strong supporter of Chaminade and an excellent faculty member," Chaminade president Brother Bernard Ploeger said.

Incorrect information on the gala event and a misspelling of president Ploeger's last name were published in yesterday's Advertiser.
