North Shore surf may reach 40 feet

The National Weather Service said today that surf along Oahu’s North Shore could reach heights of as much as 40 feet late tonight and tomorrow.

The surf will be around 5 to 9 feet through early afternoon, then begin rising to heights of 20 to 30 feet late this afternoon. By late tonight, the surf is expected to reach 30 to 40 feet.
Surf along west-facing shores on Oahu will be 3 to 6 feet through early afternoon, rising to 10 to 20 feet late this afternoon, the service said. Surf will hit 15 to 25 feet late tonight and tomorrow.
Surf along south-facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet through today.
Surf along east-facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet through today.
