Friends of Film Friday movie to screen Jan. 15

The Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Doris Duke Theatre have rescheduled the screening of “They Came to Play” to Jan. 15.
The Friends of Film Friday selection had been previously scheduled for Jan. 22.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film will be shown at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for non-museum members, $12 for members and $8 for students with an ID.
Alex Rotaru directs the story of the Van Cliburn Foundation’s International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, which is held every four years in Fort Worth, Texas.
Donald Reid Womack, a composer of more than 80 works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and voice, will introduce the film, which is making its Hawaii premiere.
Womack also will be available for questions following the screening.
