Maui playwright welcomes your 'mama' stories

Advertiser Staff

Do you have a story about dear ol’ mom you’d like to share? Maui playwright Pat Masumoto welcomes submissions for “My Mama Monologues,” a play-reading that celebrates true stories about moms.

The production premiered on Mother’s Day last year on Maui. It was also performed on O'ahu, Kaua'i, in California and England. Men, women and children worldwide are invited to submit stories about their mothers for “My Mama Monologues 2010.” While the play-reading is scheduled to debut on Mother’s Day on Maui, other venues throughout the state and nation are also producing the show.
The birth of "My Mama Monologues 2009" included stories from as far as England, about mothers from places as remote as the Andes, and born as long ago as 1897. Last year’s Maui cast of 30 readers included grandparents and grandchildren, celebrities and first-timers.
For details and instructions, visit www.mymamamonologues.com. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 14.
