Macy's is gearing up for spring. Their take on the trends: Yellow will be hot, taking cues from Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" and Picasso's ceramics. Expect to see lots of ethnic prints as well as urban safari looks, a strong message of prints and patterns with gold highlights.

Here's the hot list from Macy's: crafted, draped, oversized, tiered, skinny, strapless, celebrity jackets, fun graphic tees, jumpsuits, iconic stripes, cargos, embellished, ruffled.

Macy's accessor- ies emphasis: rounded bags, cross-body bags, fedoras, novelty legwear, cuffs and bangles, caged footwear and embellished footwear.

Tomorrow, Macy's will host a trunk show by Lynda Caris of Muse IX Design.

Her spring collection is called "Sky Symphony," inspired by the constellations and all their interesting shapes and relationships. Light and airy, Caris weaves semi-precious stones and pearls, collected from all over the world, to make whimsical necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

RHODES SHOW

Jewelry designer Robyn Rhodes is making her first Honolulu appearance in two years, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., tomorrow and Sunday at Cottage By the Sea in Ward Warehouse. In addition to her 2010 collection she will be customizing stones and necklace lengths to suit each customer.

The Neiman Marcus Beauty Event is on through March 7 — a great way to test the freshest colors of the season and learn what's new in skin and hair care technology. Makeup artists are available to help you update your look — and there are always lots of gifts with purchases, too.

OPI VISITS WONDERLAND

We've always thought it would be fun to be a fly on the wall when the creatives at OPI are brainstorming names for their nail polishes. Where do some of those kooky names come from?
Right now the inspiration is clear: Alice in Wonderland. Their four-polish collection consists of two glittery shades, Absolutely Alice (kind of turquoisey) and Mad as a Hatter (mixed jewel tones), and two reds, one matte (Off With Her Red) and glossy (Thanks So Muchness).
We found them at Merle Norman Pearlridge ($8.50) but OPI is sold in lots of other stores and salons.
