ART BY NIGHT

After a three-month winter break, the Honolulu Academy of Arts' monthly nighttime event, Art After Dark, returns this evening for another full season of art-minded hobnobbing.

This month's event takes on a "Mad for Modern" theme with the academy's art galleries staying open past their normal closing times to provide tours of the current exhibition, "From Whistler to Warhol: Modernism on Paper." Artists Lauren Roth and Joseph Pa'ahana will be doing on-the-scene live art — Roth will be doing free figure sketches of event guests and Pa'ahana will be remixing his own live video installation. Elizabeth Curtis will be photographing guests during 15-minute portrait-sitting sessions.

Also joining the party are California's DJ Nicky Savage and local space rockers Clones of the Queen (pictured). Food and drink will be provided by restaurants town and Downtown.
