'Unconferenz' to discuss technology

Advertiser Staff

A day-long, peer-driven discussion of technology issues will be held at the 3rd annual “Unconferenz” Saturday at Kapiolani Community College.

An “unconference” is a gathering where there's no set agenda, no keynotes and where the attendees are the speakers. The topics are decided at the start of the day and everyone is expected to drive the conversation. And in Honolulu, the Unconferenz remains one of the most prominent events of its kind.
Past events have covered a diverse range of topics: digital archiving, iPhone app development, Second Life, photography and even motorized cat litter boxes. This year, suggestions include the Apple iPad and Google Buzz, cloud computing, and the future of news. But the agenda won't come together until moments before the first session at 9 a.m.
The Unconferenz will begin in the cafeteria in the Ohia Building, where participants will help quickly build the day's schedule. Concurrent sessions will then be held in the Kalia Building.
Registration is $25, and includes lunch and a T-shirt. To keep the program agile, attendance is limited to 100 people. For more information, visit www.unconferenz.com.
