Associated Press

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Olympic favorite Kim Yu-na of South Korea will skate 23rd out of 30 competitors in Tuesday's women's short program at the Vancouver Games.

The reigning world champion will go one spot after chief rival Mao Asada of Japan, the 2008 world gold medalist.

Canada's Joannie Rochette, whose mother, Therese, died Sunday in Vancouver, goes 26th. Rochette plans to compete.

U.S. champion Rachael Flatt has drawn the 28th position, one spot before European champ Carolina Kostner of Italy and two before 2007 world winner Miki Ando of Japan, who goes last.

American Mirai Nagasu will skate 11th.
