Fujikawa tied for 22nd after 1-over 73

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa opened his eGolf Professional Tour career with a 1-over-par 73 yesterday.

Fujikawa had a share of 22nd when the first round of the Palmetto Hall Championship in Hilton Head, S.C. was stopped due to darkness.

Nationwide Tour player Alex Hamilton and Tim Hegarty are tied for first after shooting 67.

Fujikawa, a 2009 Moanalua High graduate, was 2-under with three birdies through 11 holes. He bogeyed three of the next five to fall out of the top 10.

ORIDE LIFTS UH

Walk-on freshman Cory Oride tied his career low to help the University of Hawai'i into 10th after yesterday's first round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Course.

Oride fired a 2-under-par 70 and is tied for ninth. Teammate TJ Kua is a shot back. The Rainbows shot a team total of 5-over 293.

Southern Methodist and California share first at 1-under 278, one better than UNLV. Eight of the 15 teams broke par yesterday.

Cal's Stephen Hale is in first individually after a 7-under 65.

Division II teams Hawai'i Pacific (300) and Brigham Young-Hawai'i (308) are the final two teams. Matt Tweddell shot 72 to lead the Sea Warriors and Inoka Kahawaii had a 74 for BYUH.
