Medical condition may have caused crash on N. Kaläheo

Advertiser Staff

Police said a driver may have suffered a medical condition before the car she was driving veered off North Kaläheo Avenue yesterday morning and hit a wall.

The driver, a 45-year-old Kailua woman, was taken to Castle Medical center in critical condition, police said.

The front-seat passenger, a 40-year-old Kailua man, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said the crash happened at 5:59 a.m., 137 feet south of Uilama Street. The car, a 2008 Chrysler Sebring, was traveling toward 'Aikahi when it veered right and hit a wall, bushes, a pole and parking sign, and finally, a large rock, police said.

Alcohol was not a factor, police said.

Police investigators closed North Kaläheo Avenue between Pukoa and Ainoni streets. The road was reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
