Lifeguards make 3 rescues on North Shore
A northwest swell that brought warning-level surf to north- and west-facing shores across the state today resulted in three rescues, five assists needing personal watercraft and 730 verbal warnings by lifeguards from Haleiwa to Sunset Beach as of 2 p.m. today.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu said the high-surf warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday before surf slowly decreases on Friday. The weather service is expecting an out-of-season southerly swell to reach advisory levels late tonight into tomorrow.
