Winter storm could have impact on Super Bowl

Associated Press

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The winter storm that buried Mid-Atlantic residents under several feet of snow could have a big impact on Super Bowl Sunday.

With power and cable television knocked out for hundreds of thousands of residents, some are fretting about what to do if it's not back on by the 6 p.m. kickoff.

Lou Kozloff, a vascular surgeon in Rockville, Maryland, has power, but his cable is out — and he's got little hope of it being repaired by Sunday. So, he's planning to borrow a rabbit ears antenna from a neighbor in hopes of watching the game on "some dinky TV."

The storm could cut down on CBS' expected audience for the game between Indianapolis and New Orleans. Then again, if power is restored, the network could benefit from an audience that's even more captive than usual.
