More than 2,600 fifth- and sixth-graders from 35 island schools showed up for today's Adult Friends for Youth's Student Transition Convention at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

"Moving on Up" addressed issues such as peer pressure and drug resistance, responding to bullies and coping with the transition from elementary to middle school grades.

Island entertainer Frank De Lima also appeared as one of his characters — a sumotori — during his appearance at the 19th annual convention.
