No suspects in Anahola brush fire

Advertiser Staff

Kauai police said that following an investigation into a brush fire in Anahola yesterday afternoon, there were no suspects in the case and that the fire was likely caused by firecrackers.

Police found spent firecrackers on the side of Kealia Road and based on the areas burned by the fire, they said they have determined that the fire was probably caused by sparks from the firecrackers.

The brush fire broke out on the Anahola side of Kealia, about a mile from the Kuhio Highway junction, around 1:45 p.m.

No one was injured in the fire and one acre was burned.
