Advertiser Staff

Jake Chilton drove in three runs to back the strong pitching of Jose Ramirez and Sacramento State beat Hawaii, 9-4, today to take 3 of 4 from the Western Athletic Conference series at Hornet Field in Sacramento, Calif.

Chilton's three-run triple highlighted a five-run second inning for the Hornets (14-18-1 overall, 3-1 WAC).

Ramirez (1-2) allowed three runs, seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings.

Zach Gallagher (3-3) was tagged for five runs (one earned) in 1 2/3 innings for the Rainbows (18-18, 2-6).

Kolten Wong went 3 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI and Greg Garcia went 3 for 3 with an RBI triple. However, he left the game in the middle of his fourth at-bat with an apparent injury after trying to leg out a bunt that rolled foul. Jesse Moore had to replace him in mid-at-bat, inheriting a 1-2 count before grounding out.
