Navy's Blue Angels to put on a show in September

Advertiser Staff

The Navy's Blue Angels flight demonstration team will perform Sept. 25 and 26 at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii "Kāne'ohe Bay Air Show," officials said yesterday.

The air show is free and open to the public and will include performers, military and civilian static displays, and other activities.

The Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron is among the most popular aviation acts in the world, Marine Corps officials said. Some 15 million people saw the show last season.

Since the Blue Angels were formed in 1946, they have performed before more than 400 million people.

The Blue Angels' F/A-18 Hornets can hit speeds of 1,200 mph. Blue Angels pilots hold their Hornets in formations just feet apart while performing complex maneuvers.

The gates are tentatively set to open to the public at 9 a.m. on both days of the show.
