Hawaii tax filers seek IRS help; 27 collection boxes open until midnight

Last-minute tax filers were spotted filing into the IRS’ Taxpayer Assistance Center in Honolulu today to get help with their tax forms. Today is the filing deadline for individual tax returns.

Last-minute tax filers were spotted filing into the IRS' Taxpayer Assistance Center in Honolulu today to get help with their tax forms. Today is the filing deadline for individual tax returns.

All Hawai'i post offices will close at their regular times today but taxpayers can still have their tax returns postmarked by midnight at 27 post offices around the Islands.

Specially marked collection boxes will be set up today at the following locations to accommodate last-minute federal tax returns:

O'ahu: Airport, Downtown, 'Ewa Beach, Hale'iwa, Hawai'i Kai, Kailua, Kāne'ohe, Kapālama, Makiki, Mililani, Wahiawā; Wai'alae-Kāhala, Wai'anae; Waikīkī, Waipahu

Maui: Kahului, Kīhei, Lahaina (main), Makawao, Pukalani, Wailuku

Big Island: Hilo (airport), Kailua, Kona, Kamuela

Kaua'i: Līhu'e main station

Moloka'i: Kaunakakai

Lāna'i: Lāna'i City
