Hawaiian Telcom plans night road closures on Big Island

Advertiser Staff

Night road closures on the Big Island are planned next week as Hawaiian Telcom workers remove cables and poles as part of the Hawaii County's Palani Road Safety Improvements project under the Department of Public Works.

Palani Road from Uluaoa to Konalani will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from April 19 to 22 for the final phase of work. Hawaiian Telcom will hire security guards, who will allow access to area residents at secured points.

Suggested alternate routes include: from Waimea to Kailua, take Hinalani Street to Queen Kaahumanu Highway or turn right at Uluaoa onto Kealakaa and turn left on to Manawalea to reach Queen Kaahumanu Highway; and from Kailua to Waimea, take Queen Kaahumanu Highway to Hinalani Street to Hawaii Belt Road.

Updates available at the Hawaii County hotline at 808-334-9559.
