Advertiser Staff

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 3-over-par 75 to finish just inside the cutline yesterday after the second round of The Championship at St. James Plantation, an eGolf Professional Tour event at Southport, N.C.

Jeremy Pope, of Pawleys Island, S.C., shot a 71 for a one-stroke lead at 7-under 137. Fujikawa was at 5-over 149, which was the cut for the weekend. Ryan Perez, a Moanalua High and University of Hawai'i alum, shot 79—161.

Seventy-seven players made the cut for the final two rounds, which will be played at the St. James Plantation's Founders Club course.

Fujikawa, a 19-year-old Moanalua alum, has made the cut in all five of his eGolf Tour events this year.

BASEBALL

HPU SPLITS

Kenny Turner hit an RBI double with one out in the bottom of the seventh, lifting Hawai'i Pacific to a 6-5 victory over Dixie State and a split of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader last night at Hans L'Orange Park.

Turner's hit to left-center scored Wade Tamaru, who had singled in the previous at-bat, as the league-leading Sea Warriors improved to 23-8 overall and 15-3 in the PacWest.

Turner, Tamaru and Bas Nooij each had two hits for HPU, which halted Dixie State's 13-game winning streak.

In the first game, Justin Jensen had four hits and three RBIs and Brett Adams had three hits and three RBIs as Dixie State (24-10, 15-7) rolled to a 13-4 victory.
