Hello, kitty ... will you have a cup of tea or perhaps a pastry?

The first and only Sanrio-licensed eatery in the U.S. has opened on O'ahu at Pearlridge Center and is located in the area they call "Downtown," on the second level near Sears. The restaurant, owned by Ben Chow and Cyrus Goo (Cafe Laufer), features a menu of pastries, sandwiches and salads that are inspired by Sanrio's world-renowned characters, including Hello Kitty, Pochacco and Keroppi.

The official grand opening is this Saturday, featuring games and special Hello Kitty balloons and costumed characters from 1 to 3 p.m.

There's an "app" for that. There's always an app for that.

Now there's a new app for eating: The What Chefs Eat app for your iPhone, which is being rolled out in the Islands with a series of foodie unveilings, provides a quick connect to some of Hawai'i's most critically acclaimed chefs, including Roy Yamaguchi of Roy's, Alan Wong, Ed Kenney of town and Jon Matsubara of Azure.

Each chef lists a favorite dish at favorite restaurants. The site is produced by Advertiser partner http://www.ShareYourTable.com. Check it out online at http://www.WhatChefsEat.com.

On a similar note, Zagat restaurant guides, the creator of the customer-generated guide, is now offering a guide to thousands of restaurants worldwide available via online link for Mac users of iPhones and iPads, at http://www.zagat.com/mobile.
