Over the years, cronies of John A. "Junior" Gotti have said they resented that Gotti's family — notably his writer sister Victoria — have gotten a lot of publicity and appeared on television.

The Gotti-inspired media industry, they said, seemed contrary to the tradition of mob members and relatives avoiding publicity.

Now Gotti, son of late Gambino crime boss John Gotti and a former mob captain, is revving up his own media blitz. Gotti is collaborating with New York lawyer Tony D'Aiuto on a documentary film about his life, according to his defense lawyer, Charles Carnesi.

D'Aiuto worked behind the scenes for the defense in Gotti's various federal trials, all four of which resulted in mistrials, and the two men bonded, Carnesi said.

Gotti also will appear on "60 Minutes" on April 11, Carnesi said.

NEW HAMPSHIRE VIDEO TRIBUTE A HIT

A video spoofing "Empire State of Mind," rapper Jay-Z's tribute to New York, has become a YouTube hit, at least in New Hampshire.

Christian Wisecarver's "Granite State of Mind" video has been viewed more than 200,000 times since he posted it online last week.

Wisecarver said he knew the video would be popular but he's surprised at how fast it has spread. He said New Hampshire pride has played a big role.

The song highlights everything from the state liquor stores along the highway to the poetry of Robert Frost, who wrote "Mending Wall" and "Ghost House" while at his family farm in Derry, N.H.

BOLIVIA WILL HONOR NATIVE SON ESCALANTE

Bolivia announced plans Friday to honor its native son Jaime Escalante, whose success teaching advanced math at a tough Los Angeles high school inspired the movie "Stand and Deliver."

Escalante, who died Tuesday at his son's home near Sacramento, Calif., will be recognized posthumously as a "cultural ambassador" for his work on behalf of people who have suffered from discrimination, Culture Minister Zulma Yugar said.

Escalante's achievements at Garfield High in East Los Angeles inspired the 1988 movie starring Edward James Olmos as Escalante.

ACTRESS' DECLARATION CRASHES WEB SITE

A gay rights campaign that features a declaration of bisexuality by Anna Paquin has received so much traffic that its Web site crashed. The campaign was launched Thursday by Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund. The Web-based initiative hopes to educate for "the advancement of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality."

The video features Paquin, the 27-year-old star of HBO's "True Blood," declaring she's bisexual. The Web site, wegiveadamn.org, said Friday that it was "overwhelmed" by the "enormous traffic."
