Chic in the City promises to be the summer's hottest ticket for fashion and fun.

Amanda Stevens of Dream On Consulting, who also happens to be our Sales & Bargains writer, is organizing the event, which will include a fab fashion show coordinated by designer Sierra Dew, a silent auction, cocktails, pūpū, giveaways, fashion vendors and (drum roll please) a private screening of "Sex & the City 2." The event will also celebrate The Advertiser's Fashion Forum and its 10 years of service as style consultants to the community.

Dress as your favorite "Sex & the City" friend and join the forum members in their salute to style. The event is a fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Hawai'i.

The party starts at 6 p.m. May 28, in the Dole Ballrooms and theaters. Presale tickets are $65. Space is limited. To purchase a ticket, go to www.dreamonhi.com.

PREPPING FOR PROM NIGHT

Every girl dreams of the perfect prom, but oh, the decisions, decisions! Help is on the way as Neiman Marcus plans two Prom Events, from noon to 4 p.m., tomorrow and April 10. There will be informal modeling of the hottest prom looks, as well as sweet treats and cool beats in the Prom Lounge. Girls will be able to consult with makeup artists from Shu Uemura and hair stylists from Aveda to find the perfect looks for prom night.

They can also enter to win a chic prom package that includes Limousine transportation from Elite, flowers by Flowers 'n Fun, a pair of Stuart Weitzman glitter platform pumps and candy favors for eight from Dylan's Candy Bar.

Attendance is free. Go online to NeimanMarcus.com /PromEvent and enter the online Prom Contest for a chance to win generous gift cards.

UGG FOCUS DAY

There's no question that UGGs, the funky footwear from Australia, have become ubiquitous. Join Nordstrom in celebrating at UGG Focus Day from 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow. Buy a pair and have them personalized with studs while you shop.

CATHERINE'S CLOSET

In spite of a hard-to-find location, upstairs and in the back of a nondescript Mānoa building, Catherine Fong has made a success of her highly personal collection of vintage hats and clothing, Catherine's Closet. Now she's coming out of the closet, so to speak, and opening her treasure trove at 125 Merchant St. in downtown Honolulu, right next to Reyn's Rack.

The new boutique offers a Hat Bar where patrons, both men and women, can come try on vintage hats, from sassy berets to sleek fedoras, under the expert eye of Catherine herself.

The grand opening is 4 to 8 p.m. today, First Friday. Store hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or by appointment: 386-2746.

THAI PANTS, WITH AN ISLE TWIST

Designer Ran Noveck was inspired by the easy, breezy, cool and comfortable (and practical, too) pants worn by Thai fishermen. After careful study, he edited the fishermen's pants to suit our Island lifestyle. The result: Mygo Hawai'i, unisex pants that come in solids, prints and tie-dye, with 56 color combinations and 90 different embroidery motifs in addition to hand-painted fabrics. They also come in two lengths: three-quarters and full length. The dyeing is done in Thailand and the manufacturing happens right on O'ahu's North Shore.

Dress 'em down with a tank or T-shirt or dress 'em up with a silk shirt or linen dress shirt. Prices range from $40 to $85. Mygo pants are sold at the Mygo Hawai'i shop in the Waikiki Beach Marriott, at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and at www.mygohawaii.com.
