Mai Tai Rumble looking for the next big thing

Competing in the Open Mic division Tuesday at the Mai Tai Rumble is 82Fifty. The competition lasts 10 weeks.

Rejoice, fans of the local music scene, because the Mai Tai Rumble returns to the Mai Tai Bar at Ala Moana Center Tuesday and will continue every Tuesday over the next 10 weeks.

Bands are competing for more than $30,000 in cash and prizes. Some of the groups the competition has helped launch are Nesian N.I.N.E., Epic Session, Hot Rain, Katch A Vibe, Kawao, All Natro and Pohaku. There are two divisions this year: Island Contemporary/Reggae, and Open Mic, which includes every other genre. ...

If you're not a Matt Damon fan, the only other reason to check out "The Informant!" is that part of it was shot at Makaha Resort Golf Club. Otherwise, the movie is kind of a disappointment. ...

So tired of movies not being available to critics for review. This week, new releases "Surrogates" and "Pandorum" aren't reviewed. What's it mean? Usually, the movie shouldn't be seen, period.
