Hawaiian Airlines' planes 83.8% full

Hawaiian Airlines saw a 14.9 percent increase in passengers last month, from September 2008.

Hawaiian Airlines said its planes flew 83.8 percent full in September.

The state's largest airline said its load factor was 3.8 percentage points higher than the same month a year earlier, when it was 80 percent.

Hawaiian said it flew a total of 683,829 passengers last month, a 14.9 percent increase from September 2008's 595,070.

For the first nine months of the year, Hawaiian's planes have flown 83.7 percent full, up fractionally from 83.4 percent for the same period a year earlier.

The airline has flown 6.28 million passengers year to date, up 5.8 percent from the same period last year.

MESA AIR'S STOCK TRANSFER APPROVED

Mesa Air Group Inc. said it has received approval from The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC to transfer the listing of its common stock from the Nasdaq Global Market to the Nasdaq Capital Market.

Mesa Air Group is the parent company of interisland carrier go!.

The transfer will be effective at the opening of the market tomorrow. The company's stock will continue to trade under the symbol MESA with no impact on the ability of investors to trade the stock.

The Nasdaq Capital Market is reserved for companies with relatively small market capitalizations.

Mesa said it expects to be granted an additional 180 days from last Friday to demonstrate compliance with the minimum bid price requirement of The Nasdaq Capital Market.

Mesa has a market capitalization of $38 million. Its shares closed yesterday at 26 cents, down 3 cents a share.

MOLOKA'I GETS NEW VERIZON CELL SITE

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site on Moloka'i, providing improved wireless coverage on the Friendly Isle.

The cell site, activated last week, extends wireless coverage in Maunaloa, including the Moloka'i Ranch Rodeo Arena, Maunaloa Elementary School, Kaluako'i Road, Pa Loa Loop and Oha Road, the company said in a news release.

Verizon Wireless said it spent $29 million in Hawai'i last year to enhance services and coverage.

Nationally, Verizon Wireless said it has invested more than $50 billion since the company was formed in 2000.
