BYUH's Ploeger earns PacWest player of week

Brigham Young-Hawai'i goalie Becky Ploeger was named Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the final week of the season.

Ploeger posted shutouts against Hawai'i-Hilo (1-0) on Nov. 3 and Chaminade (4-0) on Nov. 5. She also helped the Seasiders to a 3-1 win over Hawai'i Pacific on Nov. 7.

During the three victories, Ploeger had eight saves and an .889 save percentage.

She is the only Seasider to receive the award this past season.

Ploeger finished the season with four school records: shutouts (10), goals-against average (.47), save percentage (.843) and goalie wins (15).

LACROSSE

FREE YOUTH CLINIC

The Aloha Youth Lacrosse Association will be holding a free lacrosse clinic 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Kapi'olani Park on the Paki avenue fields.

More than 300 girls and boys play lacrosse on O'ahu, from age 7 through high school.

New players are welcome, and no experience is necessary.

Players should wear running shoes and bring water. The 10-game Youth Lacrosse season runs from March through May.
