Cycling: Menchov wins Giro d'Italia despite fall

ROME — Denis Menchov of Russia won the 100th Giro d'Italia on Sunday despite falling in the last kilometer of the final stage.
Menchov finished 41 seconds in front of Danilo Di Luca, while Franco Pellizotti finished third overall, 1:59 back.
Lithuanian rider Ignatas Konovalovas won the 8.95-mile individual time trial through the streets of Rome that concluded the race.
The time trial finished in front of the Colosseum after taking riders past the Vatican and the Circus Maximus.
Menchov fell shortly before the finish but got back on a spare bike provided by his team car.
