Diver in critical condition after rescue at Laup�hoehoe

A 59-year-old diver is in critical condition at Hilo Medical Center this afternoon after being rescued in rough surf near Laup�hoehoe Point on the Big Island.

According to the Hawai�i Fire Department, the man was diving with friends when he began to struggle in rough surf. His friends got him to nearby rocks and initiated CPR. A HFD helicopter transported the man to shore, where he was then taken to Hilo Medical Center by the Honoka�a Medic Unit.
