College baseball: Coach's wife charged with assaulting umps

Associated Press

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The wife of the Connors State College baseball coach has been charged with assaulting two umpires after a game in Bartlesville.

Sheri Keith, the wife of Cowboys coach Perry Keith, was charged Friday in Washington County District Court with two counts of assault and battery on athletic officials.

The charges stem from a May 9 incident in which Keith allegedly assaulted umpires Michael Lentz and John Williams after a CSC lost a game against Eastern Oklahoma State College.

According to a police affidavit, Sheri Keith barged into a locker room after the game, screamed obscenities and attacked the umpires.

Keith did not return telephone calls from the Muskogee Phoenix, and court records do not indicate if she has retained an attorney.

Connors officials say they are looking into the allegations.
