Advertiser Staff

Kapalua Maui Charities recently donated $300,000 raised during the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Championship to several charity and community organizations.

The money was raised through programs and auction proceeds from the PGA event.

Beneficiaries include Boy Scouts of America, Maui County Council; Friends of the Children's Justice Center; Hale Makua; J. Walter Cameron Center; Ka Lima O Maui; Lahainaluna High School Foundation and Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation. A portion of the funds also were also donated to Maui Junior Golf and the Lahaina After School Tutorial Program.

The Mercedes-Benz Championship was held in January at The Plantation Course in Kapalua Resort.

Since its inception in 1999, Kapalua Maui Charities has given more than $3.2 million to the Maui community, helping more than 60 organizations.
