Police officers, law enforcement workers honored for service

The 200 club yesterday honored three Honolulu police officers and two civilian law-enforcement employees for their work in 2008 during a breakfast ceremony at Waialae Country Club.
Detective Deena Thoemmes, who works in Robbery Detail, was named 2008 Police Officer of the Year. Thoemmes brought charges in 85 of 136 cases she was assigned.
Paul Fernandez was named 2008 Reserve Officer of the Year. Fernandez, who works full-time for Oahu Transit Services, was recognized for his 27 years of service as a reserve officer.
Detective Timothy “Timo” Donahue was named 2008 Police Parent of the Year. Donahue, a former minor-league baseball player, coached the Waipio all-star team that won the Little League World Series.
Lynn Goto Uyema, director of the Screening Intake Division at the city prosecutor’s office, was named 2008 Outstanding Citizen of the Year for helping train police officers in areas such as search warrants and financial fraud.
Gregoria “Keko” Fritz, a senior clerk typist in HPD’s Records and Identification Division, was named 2008 Civilian Employee of the Year for her work in helping Micronesian community members understand Hawaii laws, find affordable housing and integrate into society.
The 200 Club is comprised of business and community leaders who support Honolulu’s police and fire departments.
