A 24-year-old Waikele man has been arrested for allegedly using the Internet to try to lure a minor for sex.
Police say Thomas H. Brown tried to solicit a law enforcement officer he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
In online chats, Brown allegedly indicated that he wanted to engage in sexual conduct with the girl and arranged to meet her on Mother's Day in the parking lot of the Don Quijote store in the Ala Moana area.
He was arrested shortly after he arrived.
Brown faces a charge of first-degree electronic enticement of a child.
Under Hawai'i law, Internet predators face a mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison.
