PHOENIX — Shaquille O'Neal appreciates his place among the greats of the NBA. He just thinks he should have done more.

O'Neal scored 13 in the Phoenix Suns' 128-96 victory over Washington last night to pass Moses Malone as the No. 5 scorer in NBA history with 27,411 points. Since No. 4 Wilt Chamberlain is 4,008 points ahead of him, O'Neal seems to have risen as far as he'll go.

"It was good, but I'm still kind of disappointed in myself," O'Neal said. "Mathematically, I've missed three years worth of games and I missed 5,000 free throws. If I was there, I'd probably be No. 2 or No. 3 right now."

Then he added, "It shows I've been consistent at what I've been doing and the next guy is my illegitimate father — Wilt Chamberlain — so just like in Star Wars, hopefully I can catch up to my father."

It was the first game for the Suns since Leandro Barbosa went down with a knee injury, and the coaches told Jason Richardson they'd need more offense from him.

Richardson responded with 35 points, 17 in the third quarter, as Phoenix extended its winning streak to a season-high four games.

"It's being aggressive," Richardson said. "Coach asked me to pick up the slack after the first half of Philadelphia (Wednesday night), because losing LB, it's a lot of scoring. He gives us 14 or 15 points a game and I have to go out there and be more aggressive."

Steve Nash added 17 points for the Suns, who closed to 3 1/2 games of idle Dallas for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West with 13 to play.

Antawn Jamison scored 25 as the Wizards completed a winless four-game, five-day trip west.

CAVALIERS 102, HAWKS 96

CLEVELAND — Mo Williams scored 24 points and LeBron James added 22 as Cleveland won its eighth in a row while snapping Atlanta's seven-game winning streak.

Joe Johnson scored 24 points and Flip Murray 22 for the Hawks.

LAKERS 117, BULLS 109

CHICAGO — Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, Pau Gasol added 23 and Los Angeles rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to win for the fifth time in its last six games.

John Salmons scored 30 points and Derrick Rose 25 for Chicago, which entered with a season-high three-game winning streak.

CELTICS 105, GRIZZLIES 87

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Glen Davis scored 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting, Ray Allen added 20 points and six assists, and Boston won its fifth in a row over Memphis.

Hakim Warrick scored 20 points for the Grizzlies, who lost their fourth in a row.

BLAZERS 96, BUCKS 84

MILWAUKEE — Brandon Roy scored 30 points and Steve Blake hit six 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead Portland, which was playing its fifth game in seven nights.

Charlie Villanueva scored 26 points for Milwaukee.

PACERS 108, BOBCATS 83

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jarrett Jack scored 31 points on 13-of-14 shooting a night after getting benched following a dispute with teammate T.J. Ford to help Indiana snap a five-game losing streak.

Danny Granger added 21 points for the Pacers, who outscored Charlotte 33-9 in the third quarter.

MAGIC 110, KNICKS 103

ORLANDO, Fla. — Rashard Lewis scored 27 points, Hedo Turkoglu added 20 and surging Orlando nearly blew a 15-point lead before winning for the ninth time in its last 11 games.

Quentin Richardson scored 33 points, and Nate Robinson added 27 for New York, which has lost four straight games.
