An Oahu grand jury has indicted a 21-year-old University of Hawaii football player on burglary, sexual assault and assault charges in connection with two incidents involving a UH student last September and again in January.
JoPierre Davis is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and one count each of third-degree assault and third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug.
Bail for Davis, who has been free on bail since he was arrested in February, was set at $200,000.
A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Davis, a senior cornerback on the UH Warrior football team, is accused of showing up uninvited at the dorm room of a 20-year-old student Sept. 28 and refusing to leave.
Once in the room, police said, he squeezed the woman's buttocks and later that night and into the next morning he is accused of sexually assaulting her as she slept.
On Jan. 18, the woman and some friends went to the Zanzabar Nightclub in Waikiki and while she was on the dance floor she felt someone squeezing her rear end, according to court documents. The woman told police she turned and saw Davis.
The woman said she slapped Davis, who in turn punched her, knocking her out.
An employee of the club tried to intervene, but he was punched by Davis, according to court documents.
Davis was arrested Feb. 12 on the UH campus. While he was being searched, police said they recovered what was believed to be marijuana in his possession.
Davis, a scholarship player from San Francisco, has a year of eligibility remaining. He was suspended from the team pending the outcome of an investigation.
