NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Officials in Newport News say Kansas City Chiefs cornerback David Thurman Macklin has been arrested on a drunken driving charge.

Officials at the Newport News city jail and traffic court said Macklin was arrested early Friday. He also was charged with having an illegally tinted window.

Police did not immediately return a message seeking details on his arrest.

Court and jail officials did not know if the 30-year-old NFL player had retained an attorney. Macklin lists his address as Phoenix, Ariz.

Macklin joined the Chiefs in November after he was released by St. Louis. He also has played for Indianapolis and Washington.

Macklin attended Menchville High School in Newport News.
