CBKB: BU fires basketball coach Wolff after 15 seasons

Associated Press

BOSTON — Dennis Wolff has been fired after 15 seasons as head basketball coach at Boston University.

Wednesday's move came four days after the third-seeded Terriers were upset by Maryland-Baltimore County, 79-75 in overtime in the first round of the America East tournament.

Boston University finished at 17-13 this season, bringing Wolff's record to 247-197 since he took over the team for the 1994-95 season.

The Terriers went to the NCAA tournament under Wolff in 1997 and 2002 and to the NIT in 2003, 2004 and 2005. They also won three consecutive America East titles from 2002 to 2004.

The school said it would immediately begin a national search for a replacement.
