Body of man found in waters beneath bridge

Police yesterday were investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in waters beneath a bridge on Nimitz Highway near the intersection with River Street.

Emergency crews were sent to the area at 7:48 a.m. yesterday to retrieve the body.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said the man appeared to be in his late 40s or early 50s.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:13 a.m.

Police classified the case as an unattended death.
