NICK JONAS LOBBIES FOR DIABETES RESEARCH

WASHINGTON — The youngest Jonas brother spent yesterday lobbying Washington's power brokers on behalf of diabetes research — starting with President Obama.

Nick Jonas, 16, stopped by the White House for a photo with the president and children who have diabetes. It was his second visit this year. He and brothers Joe and Kevin hung out there with Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, on the night of Obama's inauguration.

In 2007, Nick Jonas revealed he has Type 1 diabetes. He is scheduled to testify today before a Senate committee hearing on federal funding for diabetes research.

AUTHOR ACCUSES HASSELBECK OF PLAGIARISM

BOSTON — Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a co-host of ABC's "The View," has been accused of plagiarism.

A lawsuit in federal court in Massachusetts alleges that Hasselbeck lifted content "word for word" from a book on celiac disease by a self-published author.

Hasselbeck's book, "The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide," appeared over the past month on several best-selling lists. Author Susan Hassett filed the lawsuit, saying she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her "Living With Celiac Disease" after the TV celebrity disclosed she had the illness last year.

Hasselbeck said in a statement that the allegations are baseless.
