Honolulu Farmers Market debuts today at Blaisdell

Advertiser Staff

The first Honolulu Farmers' Market runs from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

The market will feature fruits, vegetables, plants and other goods produced by local farmers, and will be similar to ones held weekly at Kapi'olani Community College, Mililani, Kailua and other places on O'ahu. Prepared foods are also offered.

The grand opening celebration will also incorporate the city's third annual "Ag in the City" event, in which O'ahu's agricultural industry is showcased.

The market is sponsored by Mayor Mufi Hannemann, the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, the Mayor's Office of Economic Development, the Department of Enterprise Services, and Oahu Resource Conservation and Development Inc.
