Elderly visitor from Massachusetts an apparent drowning victim on Kauai

LIHUE — A 71-year-old Massachusetts man apparently drowned yesterday at Poipu Beach Park.
Kauai firefighters say the man was found floating face down in water fronting the Beach House Restaurant at about 11:50 a.m. He was roughly 50 yards from shore.
Swimmers in the area brought the man to shore.
Paramedics took the man to Wilcox Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
