Hundreds of students at St. Francis School took part this morning in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart event.

The promotion stresses the benefits of jumping rope — an exceptional aerobic workout, a muscle and bone strengthener, and increased speed, flexibility and coordination.

The Hawaii Island Skippers, an exhibition jump rope team, put on a demonstration and allowed students to take part.

The exhibition was preceded by cardio pulmonary resuscitation education.
