Kula Forest Reserve, Polipoli reopen to public

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources yesterday reopened the Kula Forest Reserve and the Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area.

The areas had been closed as a safety precaution because of a forecasts of possible high winds and the potential for danger from falling trees.

State forestry crews inspecting the reserve access road found it to be safe for four-wheel-drive vehicle access.

"We thank the public for their patience and cooperation with this brief closure in the interest of public safety," said Laura H. Thielen, DLNR chairwoman.
