During the week of Jan.13-19, Big Island police arrested 19 motorists for drunk driving. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 59 DUI arrests in Hawai'i County compared with 60 during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.7 percent. There have been 64 major accidents so far this year compared with 106 during the same period last year, a decrease of 39.6 percent.

So far this year, there has been one traffic fatality on the Big Island compared with one during the same period last year.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
